First Grade

I was trying to think of a quick, witty title for this post, but my brain is so saturated with pregnancy hormones all I can think about is how my baby is 6, and just left me for all day school. I'm having a really rough time this year, for the first time, I cried when he left on the bus. I'd like to blame the hormones, but really, I think it's just the permanence of all day school. We won't have lunch together, I won't be picking him up, or hearing about the messes the "morning friends" left in the classroom, and, to top it all off, he's going to be gone 8:00AM until 3:45PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday he will come home a little earlier, so it's 8:00AM until 2:45PM. Of course, these times are bus-ride to bus-ride, so his time in actual school are going to be less. It's just so much. He's going to be gone all the time. Ruthie starts Pre-K in 2 weeks. She will attend 9:00AM-11:00AM Tuesday and Thursday. She's excited, I'm excited, and Lily can't wait to have alone time with Momma! I think the first day is going to be difficult for me too, I'm having more and more trouble letting go lately.

Ok, enough of that, how about some pictures!?

"Excited" was the word of the day! No fear, No Dread, only excitement for First Grade!

Mr. Serious doesn't want to be late for the bus! Little did he know we still had 20 minutes to spare!

Obligatory photo with sisters who are still in their pajamas...

Lounging like a lizard waiting for his bus!

"Ok Mom, that's enough pictures..."

"Stop taking my picture for real Mom!"

Bye's for Lily!

"Love You This Much,Charlie!"

"Goodbye Charlie, I'll miss you forever!" (2 minutes later she was a puddle of tears...we stood there and cried together as Charlie drove away in that big yellow bus!

Here comes the bus!!

Going up the stairs for the first time as a First Grader!

Talking to the driver, he had him in the afternoon last year, so it's great, Charlie already knows him, and I already have a copy of his driving report (totally clean!), background check (got it through the school), and he's already changed the route to pick Charlie up and drop him off at our driveway. I LOVE this bus driver, he's awesome!

There he goes, off to his first day of First Grade!

Introductions

Introducing...

James Sullivan Peschke Due to Arrive: 01/07/2011

As always, we already love him more than words could possibly describe

I had the quad-screen a week ago Tuesday, no word from the OB, which I always think is a good sign. Had there been a problem, I think they would have called. Hopefully all is well with the little man...more photos to come as they become available.

It Only Takes a Moment

It really only takes one moment. I was in the basement with the kids. All 3 of them were down here with me. I took clothes out of the dryer, put some new ones in from the washer, and loaded the washer. We were all down here in the rec room as I sat on the floor to fold the warm clothes, and then, in an instant 2 of them were gone. Before I could even get up off the floor my son (6) ran down to tell me Lily (2) knocked a dresser over, and to come quick...

Upon racing up the stairs I was immediately grateful for 1 thing, the baby was NOT trapped underneath the dresser. Apparently these dressers have a safety feature where all the drawers pull out if it starts to tip and lock, stopping the dresser from falling fully onto its front, and in some cases, I imagine pushing said child away from the falling object. Thank Goodness. Apparently, my son (6) went up to use the bathroom and the baby followed him up and disappeared upstairs. He heard the dresser fall, and the baby came racing down the stairs and hid under the small desk their computer sits on. I guess I need to invest in some straps for anchoring the furniture, and also a new stud finder to be sure we get them safely anchored in the girls room.

I only takes a moment for your heart to jump into your throat...and for your sanity to be gone forever...I'll miss mine!

To those that thought I was neurotic about child-proofing and safety before, wait till you see me now!

Far, Far, Away

I'd like to quote Shrek for a minute... "That's where we're going! FAR! FAR!... away"
You can't imagine how true I wish this were right now. I wish we lived Far, Far, Away from where we currently live, so far in fact, that our families could only visit us once or maybe twice/year. I would love to move to the moon, have they opened it up yet? Perhaps I can get my family passes to live on the International Space Station? No. Darn. I guess I'll just continue to live there I live then...and just pretend I don't care about all the family drama and hatred swirling around.

Beach Bound

My kids have never been to the beach. They've been to the retention pond lake beaches in our neighborhood, and to the Michigan beach my parents vacation at, but they've never been to "THE LAKE". They've never enjoyed the waves of Lake Michigan knocking them over. I'm taking them. Hopefully soon when Chris is done with his work so he can come with us. I'll be sure to get pictures. It will be hilarious. We're hoping to beat the high-heat hours and let the kids enjoy a bit of shallow wave fun!
